Professional Book Editing

Kirstin Whitman

Everyone has a story, but to tell a story that evokes emotions—passion, joy, grief, rage, despair—is more than storytelling. It’s art.

At KW Editing, I specialize in professional book editing for self-publishing authors and authors looking to edit their manuscripts before seeking an agent. I get particularly excited about working with debut authors. But, no matter where you are in your writing journey, I want your experience with me to leave you motivated, so I phrase my comments from a positive, teaching perspective. Seeking professional help is nerve wracking, and I'll do everything I can to make the experience stress free.

My goal is to uplift diverse voices and manuscripts, so all my services can be tailored to meet your specific needs—whether that be in-depth explanations of grammar corrections, content queries only, or something else entirely. I want you to get the most out of our collaboration, so don't hesitate to make a request to personalize your editing package.

As a writer working on my first book, I am intimately acquaintd with the struggles you're going through. I, too, worried about which editor to pick (yes, even editors need editors), whether my writing is "good" enough, and whether I'm cut out to face public criticism.

Because I've been on both sides of the editor-author dynamic, I'll never judge you for your grammar or think your manuscript isn't worth publishing. If anything, I'll be your biggest supporter as you navigate the literary world.    â€‹

I hope learning about the human, imperfect sides of me allow you to feel comfortable sharing your work.
