This sample will help me evaluate your writing, so I can make a professional suggestion regarding what editing services would benefit you. I'll help you choose what services fit your book and your budget.

I don't edit children's books, poetry, heavy non-fiction, or any books promoting homophobia, sexism, ableism, or racism.

I am flexible when it comes to payments. If we are booking an editing slot in advance, I require 10% to hold your spot. Then, I typically ask for 40% at the start of the project and 50% at the end before I submit the edited manuscript. However, these payments can be spread out to suit your needs. Unfortunately, I do require a full payment to be made before I release the edited manuscript back to you.

For most services, I read through a manuscript twice. However, for evaluations, I only read through the manuscript once.

I make in-text alterations using "Track Changes" (in Word). I also ask questions and make more complex suggestions using comment bubbles. For manuscript evaluations, I do not edit on the manuscript; instead, I create a separate Word document outlining my suggestions for improvement.

1) First, I get to know you and your manuscript, including the genre, word count, a brief description, and any specific concerns.

2) I review your sample chapters and provide a personalized quote.

3) If you decide to proceed, I offer a free sample edit to showcase my editing style.

4) Once you're satisfied with the sample, we sign a contract detailing the scope of work, cost, and deadlines.

5) The first installment is paid.

6) I start editing after the second installment is paid.

7) You receive your edited manuscript after the final installment is paid.

This is a difficult question to answer, as each manuscript is unique and will have different needs. However, professional editing takes time, so please book in advance. If you’re looking for an editor who can finish a project in less than a week, we might not vibe well.

I wouldn't dream of it--I'm not joking. The last thing I want to do is alter your voice. My job is to enhance your voice and ensure your writing is clear. Any in-text changes I make are tailored to match the existing tone of the piece.

What are your thoughts on AI in writing?

I will not edit a manuscript where AI has been used during any part of the writing process, be it brainstorming, plot development, story beats, or writing.

Additionally, I do not use AI in any part of the editing process.
